I attend a yearly mission trip to Guatemala. During this trip I'm the gyn lead surgeon. We care for the underserved indigenous population by performing major gyn surgery, as well as educate lay midwives in ob emergencies recognition and management.

Immediate and lasting through definite surgeries, as well as through vital education to help decrease maternal and infant mortality in Guatemala, who has one of the highest rates in the world.
On this trip our team performed 96 surgeries between plastics, gyn and general. I then led the Comadrona (midwife) training course, where we helped 14 midwives review obstetrical emergencies, and provided them with equipment to help them improve care for their patients.
