I will be working with Heroic Hearts (https://hchearts.org/). They have a history of medical mission work in Palestine with their Gaza Medical Clinics and pediatric prosthetic clinics, and I will be joining them for their first mission of bringing outside surgeons to work in a hospital. As a vascular surgeon, I will be providing much needed surgical services for both acute and chronic conditions related to and exacerbated by the ongoing genocide.
The Palestinian people of southern Gaza (Rafah) are in dire need of surgical specialists after nearly 500 days of genocide. They are lacking so many of even the most basic resources in their medical system.
The work that I do will have life changing impacts on my patients. I hope to be able to provide wound care to allow people a better quality of life, create life-saving dialysis accesses, limb saving bypasses for peripheral vascular disease, and amputations for those with traumatic injuries. I feel there is nothing more important I can do with my medical training than to share it with people who are in such desperate need.
