Mission in April 20-25, performance of medically necessary vascular procedures for patients in need and those who can’t afford it. It’s a 5 days mission that involve multiple specialists. I’ll be performing open vascular and endovascular interventions
Patients with peripheral vascular disease and end stage renal disease.
Years of war in Syria, resulted in really weak healthcare system, many patients with critical limb ischemia and end stage renal disease are losing their limbs and lives due to the limited resources. Most of those are elderly patients may not be able to afford private health care.
Help with life saving procedures
Educating residents and fellows in Syria about vascular surgery and endovascular procedures
The trip was very satisfying I successfully completed 16 complex vascular surgeries on patients in the northern part of Syria. They were mostly elderly with critical limb ischemia or symptomatic carotid disease.
I was able to share my endovascular skills with young surgeons and residents in training and I hope they will continue to use it
My patients were mostly elderly with diabetes and peripheral vascular disease critical limb ischemia and aneurysmal disease.
They all needed the help and all were very appreciative for the work that was done
Operating with limited resources was definitely challenging but after getting used to it things got easier and more efficient
All those who got operated were very thankful and happy at the end of the mission
Thank you Doximity supporting me during this mission
