This is the third year of a longitudinal project educating pediatric subspecialist physicians at the tertiary care hospital in Santo Domingo.
The first two years of this project involved educating ICU and ER physicians and is now expanding to other sub specialists in need of education. These include but are not limited to pulmonologist, neurologist and anesthesiologists. We have donated ultrasound machines and the goal of each visit is to identify superusers to maintain the growth of POCUS in between educational sessions.
Utilization of POCUS has been exploding during the recent years and we continue to track utilization in between our visits. We are impacting the care of pediatric patients in the tertiary care center but are now spreading the practice to other centers as we continue to train new Dominican educators.
