Launch a screening program for breast, cervical and lung cancer in rural India in association with rad-Aid.
50,000 people in rural India (Jaipur region) over a course of time approx. 5 years. This is an underserved population with lack of access to adequate screening.
Rural population without access to preventative screening leading to patient's presenting in advanced stages of disease. Early detection will help save lives and improve community health.

RAD-AID began in 2008 to answer this need for more radiology and imaging technology in the resource-limited regions and underserved communities of the world. RAD-AID began as a few people at Johns Hopkins, and has grown to include over 14,000 volunteers from 146 countries, serving 91 hospitals in over 40 countries.
We were successfully able to launch the Rad-Aid India Asha Jyoti II chapter for which I serve as the medical director.
India's PM launched a free HPV vaccination for girls at the same time which provided a boost to this process.
We are screening for Breast, cervical and lung cancer along with TB screening. It is a major undertaking now supported by the state government there. After the initial success, the state is now requesting another screening van.
I think the demand far exceeds the capability of our van. We are continuously working with Rad-Aid and may have to foster the process of providing another screening van to accommodate the growing need to access the rural population of India.
