Provide inovative surgical care to underserved women in Western Kenya. We will be base in Kapenguria, Kenya. They have not had access to minimally invasive surgical techniques. We have acquired a larrge donation of these supplies and plan to implement this care in Kapenguria for the first time.
Kapenguria is the capital of the West Pokut region of western Kenya. This is a primarily rural area with much medical need and very limited options for care and no minimally invasive care
We have been in touch the the regional training centers and offered our services to expand the ability to provide minimally invasive care to the women in this region.
On this trip to Western Kenya, with the generosity of multiple surgical product companies, we were able to introduce minimally invasive gynecologic surgery to Western Kenya. We performed the first laparoscopic procedure in Pokut County. Local surgeons came and learned laparoscopic techniques with the plan to expand this availability in the future. This is a significant change for the surgical options for the women in this area with will lead to safer surgeries with greatly shortened recoveries and much less surgical pain.
