On this surgical outreach trip to Kenya, we plan to offer free medical care to children and adults suffering from the lack of basic health care. This free medical care is provided regardless of gender, cultural, ethnic, political or religious affiliations. To ensure that our efforts impact underserved communities for years to come, we will also offer education and training to local health care workers during the mission, as well as improve hospitals’ infrastructure through equipment donation.
The people of Kenya will directly benefit from this project. This will be accomplished by performing life-saving and life-changing procedures including complex general, pediatric, plastic, and urologic surgeries. We are seeking to help this population because they are currently experiencing the devastating effects of poverty and inadequate medical care.
This surgical medical mission will impact many by providing immediate life-saving and life-changing care to the underserved, remote, and crisis stricken communities of Kenya. This will temporarily bridge the gap in their local healthcare infrastructure. Through the education and training of local health care workers during the mission, we aim to enhance the professional development of these providers so that they are able to continue to provide adequate and sustainable care to their communities, even after we return from the mission.
This surgical mission trip, led by Operation International, provided free, life-changing procedures to over 130 patients over the course of six days. We were able to serve patients from Kakamega county and neighboring counties who could not otherwise afford these specialized surgeries. Through our outreach, we were able to restore hope to humanity.
