I serve as a CRNA and Supply Chain Manager for this organization, and we plan to perform 100 hernia cases during the one-week mission. The impact of surgical relief is profound and allows those in the community to return to gainful employment and support their families.
The surgical population is primarily men aged 21-50 suffering from neglected inguinal hernias preventing them from engaging in work in Ghana and often leading to poverty.
The expected impact is to restore the surgical patient's ability to work and financially support their family.
The local community in Ghana received much needed surgical repair for neglected hernia conditions. Our team performed 75 cases impacting the lives of 75 patients and their families. Many of these patients will now return to the workforce allowing them to support their families once more.
