I will provide anesthesia services for hernia repairs and hydrocelectomies. We will also be participating in breast cancer screenings/pt education.

In rural communities, inguinal hernia prevalence is high, often exceeding the available surgical capacity.
Hernia related deaths can reach up to 9.4%. This population can be treated safely but have limited surgical access. Incarcerated hernias are preventable, with one study finding a 5.4% death rate. Mission work teaches resource management and a greater sense of gratitude. Serving in mission work helps us reconnect with purpose.
Each successful hernia operation affected more than an individual patient. Restoring health enabled many people to return to work, care for their families, and participate more fully in their communities. This mission fostered partnerships between local healthcare teams and visiting clinicians (CRNA and surgeon), encouraging shared learning and reinforcing the value of teamwork in resource-limited settings. The work of Ghana Make A Difference helped make surgeries possible for patients who otherwise might have faced long delays or gone without care because of limited anesthesia services.
