I will be joining Austin Smiles for a trip in June to help with cleft lip and palate surgeries.
The population served will be those in need in Mexico who do not have access to surgeries for cleft lip and palates due to financial restrictions or lack of access/resources.
I expect many families to be impacted as the patients will experience improvement beyond cosmetic appearance. Patients will experienced improved speech and dentition as well.
During my trip with Austin Smiles, I had the opportunity to assist with four days of cleft lip and palate surgeries. It was an amazing opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who have more limited access to health care.
