This mission will be a general pediatric and plastic surgery mission with many patients from ethnic minorities in the highlands and other remote areas.
Indigenous communities from remote areas of Vietnam, where access to specialized care is often extremely limited.
These surgeries will address hand, foot, and cleft deformities and are expected to create a lasting impact on indigenous communities where there is a lack of resources. By restoring function and appearance, these surgeries will improve the patients' ability to eat, speak, learn, and participate socially, therefore enhancing quality of life. The mission will also build local capacity through training and collaboration with regional healthcare providers, fostering sustainable care beyond the mission itself.
Our surgical mission made a meaningful difference in the lives of children from Vietnam’s ethnic minority communities who otherwise would not have access to surgical care due to financial barriers. During this mission, we provided life-changing surgeries for 51 children, including cleft lip and palate repairs, correction of congenital ear, hand, and foot deformities, as well as a variety of general pediatric surgical procedures. Every operation transformed a life giving each child renewed hope and new opportunity.
