ReSurge International has a partner site with Plastic Surgeons in Hue, Vietnam. ReSurge has a visiting educator trip planned for June 2026 where we will be performing surgery with the local surgeons and teaching advanced craniofacial surgery techniques. We also conduct an education lecture day for their continuing medical education.
Underserved populations from central Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. There are a large number of pediatric and adult patients with untreated craniofacial anomalies in this region.
We have worked with this team of local surgeons for several years. Our visiting educator trips focus on training the local surgeons to perform advanced surgical techniques for a variety of craniofacial conditions. They are then able to perform these surgeries more routinely. We continuously build on the training with each visit with them. There are other plastic surgeons from other centers in Vietnam that come and learn to take this training with them to their home medical centers.
This was a highly successful surgical education exchange in the partnership between Resurge International (California, USA) and its partner plastic surgery team in Hue, Vietnam. Surgeons from other cities in Vietnam also attended the surgical exchange trip. Patients presented from all over Vietnam and neighboring Laos to get evaluated for surgery. We evaluated 27 patients for surgery. We performed complex craniofacial surgical procedures on 14 patients during the week along with the Vietnamese surgeons. This gives them the training and experience to build capacity at their own hospitals. Many medical students came to observe and learn during the patient evaluations and surgery days. We also gave lectures on craniofacial surgey to the local surgeons and medical students from Hue University Medical School.
