This is a humanitarian volunteer trip to Tanzania offering free surgeries to the local people who may not otherwise may not be able to have the surgery.
I am joining a team as one of the anesthesia providers.
The population that we will be serving is the community of Mayara, Tanzania. We will be serving patients across the lifespan, including pediatric, adults and geriatric patients.
The expected impact will be making a difference in the lives of the community of Mayara with life changing surgeries. The learnings will carry forward via the knowledge exchange with Tanzanian nurse anesthetists. We will also be improving the health of the community as well.
I just want to say thank you again to The Doximity Foundation. Your grant was a huge help to me and Operation International’s Team DC on our Tanzania Surgical Mission 2026. We were able to perform 75 life changing surgeries for individuals who were a part of the community at a hospital in Tanganyika, Tanzania. We made a huge difference in the lives of individuals who otherwise would not be able to receive the type of medical care that we provided. The population that we served was pediatric and adult. We also went to an orphanage and spent time with some of the children there. This was a great mission.
