Repair cleft lips and palates
children and some adults with cleft lips and palates
This surgery is life changing for the patients and their families. Repairs make possible better development of language skills, a better cosmetic appearance which is enormous for children, and less stigma for patients and their families

We largely treat children whose lives are profoundly changed by our surgical procedures. While there is a dramatic cosmetic change, more importantly, speech development, nutrition, and social interactions are all improved. Occasionally, we treat an adult who has lived sometimes 50 years with a cleft lip and they are also impacted tremendously and verbalize a new outlook on life that has included getting married and going to social events previously avoided. One adult man had a cleft lip repair because he felt his adolescent children were stigmatized by his appearance.
