training and education of the community, engaging with the providers and maintaining international relationships that allow for consistent collaboration when needed
underserved communities in South Africa
This group of providers expects to provide community health training, medical treatments, medical supplies and equipment, and clinic operations. We will also provide primary medical care to people who do not have reliable access to treatment and help increase the community’s education and knowledge on their own health to improve the overall longterm care

Returning from Durban, South Africa, my third medical mission, I understand Global Healthcare is something that all clinicians should experience. It is an opportunity to use the “art” of medicine in the truest sense. We must learn where there are gaps in medical decisions, identify how to use what systems are available for quality assurance and innovate to the next level. One of the students that shadowed me noted that he is "especially grateful to Alicia Jones, DO, for allowing me to shadow and scribe for her. Watching her care for patients with clinical expertise, patience, and compassion was an invaluable learning experience and one of the most meaningful parts of my time in South Africa."
This experience reinforced for me that sustainable global health is about more than providing care. It is about listening, working alongside local leadership, sharing knowledge, strengthening systems, and building relationships that last.
I left KwaZulu-Natal inspired and even more committed to building stronger communities through partnership and service.
